Server Host Terms of Service
Last updated Oct 7, 2026
Draft. Not legal advice. A lawyer checks these pages before we take payments.
These are the rules for using Server Host. We wrote them in plain words on purpose. If something is unclear, ask us at [contact email]. By making an account or using our site, panel or AI connector, you agree to these terms. The pages listed at the bottom are part of them.
Server Host is NOT AN OFFICIAL MINECRAFT PRODUCT. It is not approved by or connected to Mojang or Microsoft.
Server Host is in beta. Anyone can join, paid plans are live, and rough edges are expected. See section 12 for what that means for you.
1. Who can use Server Host
- To make an account (to be a server owner) you must be at least 13 years old. If you are
under 13, please do not make an account. We do not ask your age when you sign up; by making an
account you tell us that you are 13 or older. If we find out an account belongs to someone under
13, we will close it and delete the personal details we hold about it. [Open item for the
lawyer: is "13+ in the terms, no age question" enough? See
README.md.] - Playing does not need an account. Anyone, of any age, can join a server on Server Host with their own Minecraft account. We keep very little about players (see the Privacy Policy).
- If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before you buy credits or spend a parent's money. If you are under 16, you pay through an "Ask a parent to buy" link: a parent opens it and buys credits for your account. A parent or guardian can write to us any time about their child's account.
- One person, one account. Do not make extra accounts to get more free servers or free credits. We allow one free server per verified email or Discord identity.
2. Your account
- Give us a real email address you can read. You must verify it before you can make a server. (Signing in with Discord counts as verified.)
- Keep your password, sign-in codes and AI connector tokens private. What happens on your account is your responsibility, so tell us fast if someone else got in.
- You can turn on two-factor sign-in, see your active sessions, sign out everywhere, and see and cut off any AI you connected. We suggest you do.
- If you lose your sign-in, you can get back in with your recovery codes, or by proving you own the Minecraft account linked to your account. Our staff cannot skip those steps because of an email request alone.
- Our staff can look at your account and servers to help you (for example, to fix a problem you wrote to us about). Every use of that is logged, and staff only see what their job needs. See the Privacy Policy.
3. What Server Host is
We host Minecraft Java servers (and let Bedrock players join them, if the owner switches that on). Owners run their server from our panel, or by talking to their own AI (like Claude or ChatGPT) through a connector we provide. We have a free tier and paid tiers, and you pay with credits (see the Credits Terms).
We try hard to keep things running, but see section 12: we do not promise it will always work.
4. Owner responsibilities
If you own a server on Server Host, you are in charge of it. That means:
- You follow the Acceptable Use Policy and everything in these terms.
- You follow Mojang's rules (section 5), and you treat your players fairly.
- You accept the Minecraft EULA with a tick, with a link to it, when you create each server. We record when you agreed. The server cannot start until you do.
- You are responsible for your server's content: its name, message of the day, icon, world, plugins, rules and what your staff do. A plugin or world you add is your choice and your risk.
- You moderate your own server. You decide who can play there and who gets removed. We run the hub and our public list, and we may act on those (see the Acceptable Use Policy).
- Some commands stay ours. Every server on our network keeps
/huband/report-server, and you cannot turn them off. - You are responsible for the people you give access to, such as team members and SFTP logins. Give each person their own login. Never share one.
- You have the right to what you upload. Do not upload or install things you have no right to use. That includes images you upload for menus and resource packs: you give us permission to resize, check and serve them to your players.
- Keep your own backups of anything precious. We make snapshots, but see section 12.
- Selling things on your server: [not decided yet. Owners may be able to sell things on their own servers later, with a cut to us. Until then, follow Mojang's rules in section 5 for anything you sell yourself, outside our systems.]
5. Mojang's rules for servers
Minecraft belongs to Mojang and Microsoft. When you run a Minecraft server you agree to follow their rules, which we pass on to you here. Those rules can change, so read them yourself at https://www.minecraft.net/usage-guidelines [to check before launch]. In short, on Server Host:
- No pay-to-win. You may not sell anything that gives players a gameplay advantage over others, like better kits, power, items or special abilities for real money.
- Cosmetic things are fine, such as hats, pets, particle effects and chat tags that change how something looks and nothing else.
- No selling capes.
- No paid gambling. Do not sell crate keys, loot boxes or random rewards for real money.
- No cashing out. Any in-game money or points on your server must not be exchangeable back into real money.
- Everyone must have accepted the Minecraft EULA to use a server, and you may not help people get around it.
- Do not use Mojang's name, logos or look as if you are them. Do not say your server is official.
If you break Mojang's rules, we will act. First we warn you. If it keeps going, we unlist your server from our hub, and after that we may suspend it. See the Acceptable Use Policy.
6. Using the AI connector
The connector lets an AI app that you choose (like Claude, ChatGPT or another app that supports the MCP standard) manage your server for you. You add one connector for your whole account, and the AI names the server for each thing it does.
- It is your AI and your choice. The AI app belongs to another company, with its own terms and its own privacy rules. We are not responsible for what that AI says or does outside our connector. You can cut it off any time in your panel.
- You set the permissions. For each action, on each server, you choose Allow, Ask or Block. If you choose Allow, the AI can do it without asking you, and you accept what follows. Some actions start on Ask because they are risky. If you choose Ask, the request waits for you in the panel for 24 hours, then it expires. The AI can never approve its own requests.
- You see the permissions before you connect. When you connect an AI, you see which servers it can reach and what it may do on each, and you can change that before you approve.
- The AI can never spend your credits. It cannot buy, upgrade or boost anything. It may suggest one and point you to the panel, where only you can do it.
- Team members can connect their own AI to a server they help run. It can only do what their role allows, and your Allow, Ask and Block settings still apply on top.
- An AI can be tricked. Text inside the game (signs, books, chat, item names, files) can try to fool an AI. We label that text as untrusted and our tools are narrow and limited, but no system is perfect. You are responsible for what you allow your AI to do.
- Snapshots help, but they are not a promise. We make a snapshot before changes the AI makes, so you can undo them. There is a Stop button that pauses everything your AI is doing on a server. Please still keep your own backups.
- Plugins are checked. Any plugin your AI (or you) installs is checked first. A plugin that our safety check blocks can never be installed, whatever your settings are. If you think we got it wrong, you can ask our staff to look.
- We do not show chat to your AI by default. You can switch on reading recent chat for one server. If you do, you accept the warning shown to you, and you are responsible for telling your players if the law or your own rules require it.
- Keep tokens secret. Anyone with your token can use your connector.
- Do not use the connector to break the rules, attack other servers or systems, or dodge limits. We keep an audit record of connector actions (see the Privacy Policy).
- Our help bot only explains problems and suggests fixes. It does not change your server. Its answers can be wrong. Check before you act on them.
7. Free servers, sleeping and archiving
- Free servers are small: about [2 GB of memory, final number to confirm] and 5 GB of disk. You get one free server. There is no player limit and no default world border; memory and disk are the limits.
- Servers sleep after the last player leaves: 5 minutes on a free server, and 15, 30 or 60 minutes on the $5, $10 and $20 plans. A free server also sleeps if everyone online has done nothing for 30 minutes. On paid plans, away-from-keyboard players keep the server awake.
- When we are busy, free servers may wait in a queue to wake up, and paid servers go first. If our free space is full, new free servers may join a waitlist. Free servers that already exist keep working.
- Free servers show a small "hosted free on Server Host" line in the player list footer and a small "powered by" mark on menus. Paid plans can remove them.
- A free server that nobody has used for 30 days is moved to cold storage (archived). We do not delete archived servers. The first start after that is slower. Archived servers keep their names. [How long a paid server can sit unused before it is archived is not decided yet.]
- A world is only deleted when you delete it. To delete a server you type its name to confirm. We keep a last snapshot for 30 days in case you change your mind, and then it is gone. Being unused never deletes anything.
- If you close your account, your servers are archived first (see section 11).
- If a paid plan cannot renew because you do not have enough credits, the server drops to the free limits. Nothing is deleted. If the server holds more than the free disk space, it cannot start until you free up space or the plan renews.
- Paid plans have more power, faster wake-up and later sleep times. What is on offer, and the prices, are shown on our pricing page and can change for the future (never for credits you already bought).
8. Credits and payments
Everything you buy on Server Host is paid for with credits. Credits have no cash value, they do not expire, and they are not refundable except in the one case described in the Credits Terms. Please read them before you buy. Payments are handled by [payment provider, to be confirmed] and we do not see or keep your card number.
9. Our things and your things
- Yours: your worlds, builds, configs, plugins you made and anything else you upload. You keep all rights. You give us permission to store, copy, back up and run them, only so we can provide the service to you (for example, to snapshot, archive, restore and move your server, including between our regions).
- Ours: the website, panel, hub, connector, our plugins and our branding. Our premade setup plugins only work on our network and stay on our side, so they are not part of an export. Do not copy, reverse engineer or resell them. Some premade setups also use well-known free plugins from other people. Those keep their own licences.
- Other people's plugins: plugins you install from Modrinth, Hangar or anywhere else come with their own licences and terms. You are responsible for following them.
- You can export your worlds, configs and your own plugins whenever you like (see section 11).
- If you give us feedback or ideas, we may use them without owing you anything.
10. What we may do about problems
If you break these terms, the Acceptable Use Policy or the law, we may take these steps, usually in this order:
- Warn you.
- Unlist your server from our hub and public list. Players who already know the address can still reach it.
- Suspend the server or the account, or stop a server that is causing harm (for example, attacking others or using up shared resources).
- Close the account for serious or repeated problems. [Closing an account is the drafter's addition, not in the decision log. The lead should confirm.]
We do not ban automatically. A person looks at a report before we take each step, and we tell you what happened and why when we can. Through every step you can still export your worlds, configs and your own plugins, except for illegal content. If we got it wrong, tell us and a person will look again. For very serious things (for example, content that endangers a child, malware, attacks, or a legal order) we may act first and explain right after.
We do not scan what you upload ahead of time to look for illegal content. We act on reports. If we learn of apparent child sexual abuse material, we report it to the authorities and keep a copy as the law requires. We also answer valid requests from law enforcement. See "Legal requests and child safety".
A ban from our hub only covers our hub. It never reaches an owner's own server, which stays the owner's call.
You can stop using Server Host any time. We may also stop offering a free feature or the whole service. If we ever shut down, we will tell you in advance [how long, to confirm] and give you time to export your things.
11. Leaving, exporting and deleting
- Export: you can download your worlds, configs and your own plugins in one click, and your account data in a readable file.
- Delete your account: in your account settings. First your servers are archived, then we remove the account data we do not need to keep. See the Privacy Policy for what we keep and for how long.
- Hand over a server: you can transfer a server to another account that accepts it. The files move to the new owner. Your plan and credits do not.
- Credits left on a closed account are lost unless the Credits Terms say otherwise.
12. Beta, no warranty, and limits on what we owe you
Server Host is in beta. That means rough edges, bugs and changes are normal, and we may change or remove features. If our machine fails, we will do our best to bring your server back from the latest snapshot onto a new machine, but we set no time for that, and anything after the last snapshot can be lost. We also do not promise a reply time when you write to us for support. [Open item for the lawyer: how to word this fairly while we take real money during the beta.]
Server Host is offered "as is" and "as available." We try to do a good job, but we do not promise it will always be on, fast, error free, or safe from every attack or mistake. Servers can crash, files can be lost, and an AI can do the wrong thing.
To the most the law allows, we are not responsible for lost worlds or data, lost players or profit, or harm from things owners or other people put on a server. If we are ever responsible for something, the most we owe you is [the amount you paid us in the last 12 months, or $50 if you paid nothing, to confirm]. Some places do not allow some of these limits, so they may not apply to you, and nothing here limits rights you cannot give up by law.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you by email or on the site before it starts [how long before, to confirm]. If you keep using Server Host after that, you accept the new version. If you do not agree, you can export your things and close your account.
14. Other things
- Which laws apply: the laws of [state, to confirm], USA. Disputes go to [court or process, to confirm]. [Open item for the lawyer.]
- Where your data is kept: while we only run machines in the USA, owners' data is kept in the USA, including for owners in the EU. See the Privacy Policy.
- If one part of these terms does not work, the rest still stands.
- You cannot hand your account to someone else.
- Contact: [contact email]. Copyright problems go to our DMCA page. Legal requests and child safety reports go to the page for those.
