Connect ChatGPT

Add the connector to ChatGPT with developer mode, on the plans that allow custom connectors.

DraftThis page is a first draft and may change.

ChatGPT can use the connector on the plans that allow custom connectors, which today means a paid plan with developer mode. The free ChatGPT plan cannot add custom connectors. You add it on the ChatGPT website.

Menu names in ChatGPT change from time to time. If a step looks different, look for Apps, Connectors or Developer mode in ChatGPT's settings.

Add the connector

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web and go to Settings, then Apps and connectors (or Connectors).

  2. Open Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode. ChatGPT shows a warning about custom connectors; read it, then turn it on.

  3. Choose Create (or Add connector).

  4. For the name, type Server Host (dev). For the server address (MCP server URL), paste this:

    https://mcp.test.quarrymc.net/mcp

  5. For authentication, pick OAuth. Tick that you trust this connector, then choose Create.

  6. ChatGPT sends you to Server Host to sign in. Sign in, check the consent screen (which servers it may reach, and Allow, Ask or Block for each action), then choose Approve.

Use it in a chat

Start a new chat, open the tools menu (the + button), choose Developer mode or More, and pick the Server Host (dev) connector. Then ask something like "list my servers".

Good to know

  • ChatGPT asks you to confirm actions that change things. That is ChatGPT's own check; our Allow, Ask and Block settings still apply on top of it.
  • You can cut the connection at any time in Account, Connected AIs on Server Host, or by removing the connector in ChatGPT.
  • How permissions, approvals and undo work: see Connecting your AI.
