Importing a server
Bring a server from another host: upload a zip or connect over SFTP, and we set it up for you.
DraftThis page is a first draft and may change.
If you run a server on another host, the import wizard moves it to Server Host for you. It finds your worlds, plugins and configs, checks them, and sets up the server.
This feature is part of the follow-up build. Details marked TBD are not settled yet.
Two ways to bring it
- Upload a zip. Zip your server folder and upload it.
- Connect over SFTP. Give the wizard your old host's SFTP login, and it reads the files from there. We use the login for this import only. TBD: how long we keep it, which should be no longer than the import.
What the wizard does
- It looks for worlds, plugins and config files.
- It checks them the same way as any plugin you install: the files are scanned, and a file our safety check blocks is left out and listed for you.
- It sets up a new server with what it found, inside your plan's server limit.
The wizard only reads from your old host. See Backups and restores for keeping copies once the new server is running.
Which hosts it understands
TBD: which hosts' folder layouts the wizard recognises first. A zip or SFTP from any host works, but the wizard may ask you which folder is which.
If something does not work
Plugins made for another Minecraft version may not load. See Troubleshooting.
