Signing up and signing in

You need an account to own a server. Players who join your server do not. You must be 13 or older to make an account. We ask for nothing else: no name, no age box, no phone number.

Make an account

Open the Server Host website and choose Make a free server or Sign in, then Make an account. There are two ways:

• With Discord. Choose Continue with Discord and allow it in Discord. Discord accounts count as verified, so you can make a server straight away.
• With email. Type your email and a password of at least 10 characters, then choose Make account. Pick a password you do not use anywhere else. We turn down passwords that have shown up in known data leaks, and throwaway email addresses.

If you came from a premade setup's Start with this button, you land on server creation with that setup picked once your account is ready.

Verify your email

After you sign up with email, we send you a message with a link. Open it, then choose Verify my email on the page that opens. You need a verified email before you can make a server.

• The link works once and runs out after a while.
• Nothing arrived? Check your spam folder, then choose Send a new link (you may need to sign in first).
• If the page says the link has expired or was already used, choose Send a new link.

Sign in

Choose Sign in and use the same way you signed up: Continue with Discord, or your email and password. If the email and password do not match, the page says so without saying whether the email has an account. That keeps other people from finding out who uses Server Host.

If you turned on two-factor sign-in, the next step asks for the 6-digit code from your authenticator app. Lost your phone? Choose Use a recovery code instead and type one of the codes you saved. Each recovery code works once. See Your account to turn two-factor on.

Too many wrong tries in a row and the page asks you to wait a minute. It never locks you out for good.

Forgot your password

1. On the sign-in page, choose Forgot your password?
2. Type your email and choose Send reset link. We always say the link is on its way, whether or not the email has an account.
3. Open the link in the email, type a new password and choose Save new password.

Saving a new password signs you out on every other device. Your connected AIs stay connected; you can cut them off in Account, Connected AIs.

Safety, in short

• We store your password only as a scrambled hash we cannot turn back into the password.
• Sign-in links and codes in emails work once and run out.
• Our website only sends you back to pages on Server Host after you sign in, never to another site.
