Credits and plans

What credits are, what plans cost per GB of memory, how to get free credits, and the refund rule. Prices are defaults and may change.

DraftThis page is a first draft and may change.

Server Host uses credits. You buy credits, then spend them on a plan, a boost or a premade setup. Credits are a balance with us. They are not money and cannot be cashed out. Your AI can never spend them: only you can, in the panel.

These prices are the current defaults and are not final. Every price here shows its money value next to it.

Credits

100 credits = $1.

$252,750 (10% extra)
$505,750 (15% extra)

You can also top up any amount from $5 to $50. Credits never expire. Paying is handled by our payment provider (TBD which one). Cards, PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay are planned, depending on what the provider supports. Until payments are switched on, checkout says it is not available yet.

If you are under 18, ask a parent or guardian to pay. If you are under 16, use the Ask a parent to buy link: a parent opens it and buys credits for your account.

Gift codes. You can buy a gift code and send it to someone. They redeem it into their own account. A code works once. This is the only way to give credits to another account.

Your credits page

The panel's credits page shows your balance with its money value (for example "1,250 credits ($12.50)"), the full history of purchases, spends, earned credits and grants, your progress against the earned-credit limits and your login streak, and your upcoming renewals, each marked as covered by your balance or not.

Buying credits is not available yet. Until payments are set up, the checkout says so, and credits come from playing on the network (below) and from our staff.

Plans

Plans are per server: each server has its own. Paid plans are priced by memory: you pick the size, and each GB costs the same.

  • Free: 1 GB of memory and about 5 GB of disk, $0. A free account has 1 free server.
  • Paid: any size from 2 GB to 12 GB. Each GB costs 190 credits ($1.90) a month, so 2 GB is 380 credits ($3.80), 4 GB is 760 credits ($7.60), 8 GB is 1,520 credits ($15.20) and 12 GB is 2,280 credits ($22.80) a month. Bigger sizes open later. Paid servers do not use your free slot.

Pick the size with the memory slider when you make a server, and change it later on the server's Overview. The pricing page and the panel's credits page have the same slider, so you can see the price first.

Plan names are TBD. For now a paid plan is named by its size, for example "the 4 GB plan".

Paid disk sizes, CPU shares and the number of paid servers per account (10) are defaults, for review. What every paid size adds:

  • Paid servers go ahead of free ones in the wake queue when a region is busy.
  • AFK players keep the server awake.
  • World pre-generation.
  • Your own custom domain, and the owner API (see Owner API).
  • No "hosted free" line in the player list and no "powered by" mark on menus.
  • A perk set for you: a tag in the hub, hub cosmetics, cheaper boosts and early access to new premade setups. These show in our hub only, never on your own server.

Everyone gets the same full panel, plugins, console, files and AI connection, free or paid. There is no player limit on any plan: memory is the limit.

Changing size

  • More memory applies at once. From free, you pay the new size's month. From a paid size, you pay only the difference for the days left in the month, for example moving from 4 GB to 6 GB with half a month left costs 190 credits ($1.90).
  • Less memory (or back to free) starts when the paid month ends, so you never lose days you paid for. Until then the Overview shows the size that is waiting; pick your current size again to keep it.
  • If your balance is too low, the plan card says how many credits you need, and nothing changes.
  • Now and then a region has sold all the paid memory it can for the moment. A bigger size then says so, and you can pick a smaller one or try again later.

Your AI can never change a plan or spend credits. It can make a free server for you in your free slot; a paid size is picked by you, in the panel.

Renewing and ending

Plans renew by themselves only if you turn on auto-renew on the plan card. It is off by default. A renewal costs a month at the size that renews. Cancel any time from the plan card: your server keeps its plan until the paid period ends, then moves to Free. The cancel button is always visible on the plan card, and there is no ticket and no survey first.

We warn you 7 days and again 3 days before a plan ends, by email and in the panel: with auto-renew off, so you can renew if you want to, and with auto-renew on, when your balance cannot cover the renewal. If you chose to go back to Free, there is nothing to pay and no warning. If a plan ends, the server moves to the free limits and nothing is deleted. A server that is running when its plan ends keeps going until it next sleeps, and starts on the free limits after that. If it holds more than the free 5 GB, it cannot start until you free some space or renew.

Boosts

A boost pins your server at the top of the hub's server list, marked "Boosted", with its tagline. For now the list shows an item that matches your server's kind of play; your own server icon shows there once the picture menus arrive. A boost costs 250 credits ($2.50) for 3 days. Paid servers pay less, by size: 10% off for 2 to 3 GB (225 credits), 20% off for 4 to 7 GB (200 credits) and 30% off for 8 GB and up (175 credits). There is no limit on boosted places: every boosted server is pinned, and boosted servers are ordered by how many players are on right now. See Your server in our hub.

Free credits

You can earn a few free credits by playing and by bringing people in:

  • A daily streak. A day counts when your linked Minecraft account joins our hub or any server on Server Host that day (link it with /claim first). Each counted day pays 5 credits, and every 7th day of your streak (day 7, 14, 21 and so on) pays 20 more. Miss a day and your streak steps back 2 days, not to zero. Each 7-day mark pays its 20 once: after stepping back, the next 20 comes at the next mark you have not reached yet. If your streak drops all the way to zero, it starts fresh. Credits for the day are paid as soon as you join; the credits page shows your streak.
  • Inviting a friend. Share your invite link from Account, Invite a friend. When your friend's server has real players (by default 3 or more different players, on 3 different days), you both get 100 credits. Your own and your team's Minecraft accounts don't count as players. Invite credits are paid for up to 2 friends a month and 10 in total.
  • Votes. Players can vote for your server in the hub, once a day each. Each vote pays you 2 credits. Your own votes don't count.

The limits (defaults, for review): earned credits are paid up to 30 a day, 400 a month, and you can hold at most 1,000 earned credits at once (credits you spend are taken from your earned credits first). Invite credits are larger than a day's limit, so they skip the daily limit but still count toward the month and the 1,000. Over a limit, the extra is simply not paid, and our team takes a look in case something is off. Nobody is banned by this. Only accounts with a confirmed email earn, and earned credits cannot be given to other people.

The Credits page

Open Credits from the balance at the top of the panel. It shows:

  • Balance: your credits with their money value, for example 1,240 credits · $12.40.
  • Free credits you earned: today, this month and held, each against its limit, and your play streak. Collect today's credits adds today's daily credits; a day counts when your linked Minecraft account plays on our network.
  • What a size costs: the memory slider with the monthly price and what that size gets, and how many months your balance covers at that size.
  • Upcoming renewals: each paid plan with its size, renewal date and price, marked Covered or Not covered by your balance (paid soonest first). If a renewal is not covered, that server moves to the free limits on its renewal date. Nothing is deleted. The balance at the top of the panel turns amber when a renewal in the next 7 days is not covered.
  • Buy credits: the bundles with their real prices. Buying asks you to accept the refund rule. Until payments are switched on, it says buying is not available yet; during testing, credits come from us and from playing.
  • History: every credit in and out, with its date and what it was for.

Change a server's size, turn auto-renew on or off, or cancel its plan on that server's Overview.

Free server marks

Free servers show a small "hosted free on Server Host" line in the player list footer, and a small "powered by" mark on menus. A free server may also use the second line of its MOTD. Paid plans can remove both marks.

Premade setups

Premade setups are paid in credits, or free. Which are free and what the paid ones cost is TBD. See Premade setups.

Refunds

Credits are not refundable. This is stated at checkout. There is one exception: if a purchase was made without a parent's permission, you (or a parent) can ask for a refund of the credits you have not spent, within 60 days of the purchase. Write to us and a person checks the purchase. A gift code that nobody has redeemed follows the same rules. In the EU, checkout also asks you to agree that we start right away and that you give up the 14 day cooling-off period. The exact wording is TBD and will be checked by a lawyer before we take payments.

If you ask your bank for a chargeback, the unspent credits from that purchase are removed and your servers drop to the free limits. Nothing is deleted, and your account is not locked. Please write to us first.

Leaving

You can take your worlds, configs and your own plugins at any time. See Your account.
