Events, leaderboards and seasons
Timed events like happy hour and King of the hill, in-game leaderboards, and seasons you start and end.
DraftThis page is a first draft and may change.
Events
Events run on a schedule you choose, in your own time zone. Players see what is on with /events.
The setups come with:
| Event | What happens | When |
|---|---|---|
| Happy hour | Everything sells for double with /sell | Daily at 19:00, 30 minutes |
| Market day | /sell prices up 25 percent | Saturdays at 18:00, 1 hour |
| King of the hill | Hold the hill for 5 minutes in total; teammates count together | 07:00, 15:00 and 23:00, 15 minutes |
| Airdrop | Supply chests land near a spot you choose | Every 30 minutes, 10 minutes |
| Fresh land | The world border grows | Off until you turn it on |
Events that need a place: King of the hill and airdrops need a spot. Stand there and run
/shevents set-location koth 5 (the number is the size in blocks). Until then they are skipped, and
the console says so.
Rewards go by placement: first, second and third, everyone who took part, or everyone online. A reward is any action, for example event keys. Each player gets each reward once, even if something retries.
Asleep servers: if your server was asleep when an event should have started, it does not start late. The next one on the schedule runs as normal.
Write your own events on the settings page or in plugins/sh-events/events.yml. A schedule looks like
every 30m, daily 07:00,15:00, weekly sat,sun 18:00, or manual (only when you or a reward start
it).
Leaderboards
Leaderboards are in game only: on holograms and in the /top menu, next to the money and playtime
boards. Each event leaderboard shows three views: this week, this season and all time. Their names end in -week,
-season or -all, for example event_wins-week.
- Place one as a hologram where you stand with
/holo board <id> <leaderboard>, for example/holo board hill event_wins-week. /holo listand/holo delete <id>manage them.- Every week (Monday by default) the weekly boards are saved to
plugins/sh-events/archive/, the weekly prizes are given to the top players, and the boards start again. Players who are offline then still get their prize: keys and money arrive as usual, and items wait for them in/collect. Messages, titles, sounds and effects need the player online, so they are skipped; anything skipped is noted inplugins/sh-events/audit.log.
Seasons
A season is a stretch of play that ends with a reset of progress. Seasons never end by themselves unless you set a length.
- End one yourself:
/shevents season end keep|soft|full. You see what each plugin will reset, then confirm with/shevents season end full confirmwithin 2 minutes. - Or set a season length in weeks on the settings page. Each season then ends after that many weeks.
Before anything resets, two things happen first:
- The leaderboards are saved to
plugins/sh-events/archive/season-<number>.json. - A full backup of your server is saved. If the backup cannot be saved, nothing is reset and the season keeps going. You can roll back to that backup any time from the Backups page.
Players are told the season is ending only once the backup is saved. If a season that ends by its length cannot save its backup, only you and your staff are told, and it tries again after an hour, then after 2 hours, 4 hours and so on, at most once a day, until it works.
What resets depends on what you pick: keep resets nothing but the season leaderboards, soft resets progress levels, and full resets all progress. Cosmetics and titles always stay. Each setup's plugins decide the details and show them before you confirm.
You can also give everyone a peace time at the start of a season: minutes with no player damage.
Settings page
| Setting | Default | Range |
|---|---|---|
| Time zone | UTC | any time zone |
| Events at the same time | 2 | 1 to 5 |
| Highest total boost | x5 | x1 to x10 |
| Season length in weeks | 0 (only when you end it) | 0 to 16 |
| At the end of a season | keep | keep, soft, full |
| Peace time at season start | 0 minutes | 0 to 120 |
| Weekly boards reset on | Monday | any day |
| Events and their times | the list above | your own |
| Weekly prizes | event keys for the top 3 event winners | your own |
Your AI can change these. Season length, the end-of-season choice and the event list ask you first, by default.
Sell boosts never let players make money from nothing: however high the boost, /sell pays at most
one cent under what your shop charges for the same item, so buying from the shop and selling back
always loses money.
For you and your staff
/shevents start <event>and/shevents stop <event>/shevents listand/shevents types/shevents boost <what> <times> <minutes>, for example/shevents boost sell 2 30/shevents season status/shevents reload
