Regions and flags
Named regions with rules such as no fighting, no building or no mobs: /zone and zones.yml.
DraftThis page is a first draft and may change.
A region is a named box in a world with rules, called flags: for example a town where nobody can fight or build, or an arena where fighting is on.
Making a region
- Type
/zone wandto get the zone wand. Left click a block for the first corner, right click another for the second. (Or stand in each corner and type/zone pos1and/zone pos2.) - Type
/zone create <name>, for example/zone create town. Add a number to set its priority:/zone create arena 20. - Set flags:
/zone flag town pvp deny,/zone flag town build deny.
Your AI can make regions too, by giving the world and both corners:
/zone create arena world 100 60 100 140 90 140 20.
Flags
| Flag | What it controls |
|---|---|
pvp | Players hurting each other |
build | Placing blocks (and emptying buckets, using armour stands and item frames) |
break | Breaking blocks (and filling buckets, breaking paintings, frames, armour stands, boats and minecarts) |
interact | Using doors, buttons, chests and other blocks |
mob-spawn | Monsters and animals spawning by themselves |
mob-damage | Monsters hurting players |
item-drop | Dropping items |
enderpearl | Ender pearls into or out of the region |
fly | Flying, for players who can fly |
explosions | Explosions breaking blocks |
fire-spread | Fire spreading and burning blocks |
enter-message, leave-message | Text shown when walking in or out |
Each flag is allow or deny (the two message flags take text). /zone flag <region> <flag> none
removes a flag. /zone flags lists them all; a setup can add its own, such as lifesteal's
heart-change.
When regions overlap
The region with the highest priority that sets a flag decides. A region can have a parent
(/zone parent arena town): flags the arena does not set come from the town. Outside every region,
the world default applies (/zone worldflag world pvp allow), otherwise everything is allowed.
Owners and staff (with the sh.zones.bypass permission) are not stopped by build, break and
interact, so they can build the spawn.
Where building or breaking is off, pistons outside the region cannot push or pull blocks into or out of it, and water or lava from outside cannot flow in.
Other commands
/zone list, /zone info [name] (no name: the regions where you stand), /zone priority <name> <n>,
/zone redefine <name> (new corners from your selection), /zone delete <name>.
The file
Everything is saved in plugins/sh-zones/zones.yml. Edits there apply within a few seconds. A
region with a mistake is skipped and the console says why.
Settings
On the settings page under Zones: where enter and leave messages show (action bar, chat or title) and whether players are told when a region stops them.
