Menus (Panes)
What Panes are, how players see your menus on each game version, and how to switch menus on, off or to chest menus only.

Panes are menus that open on top of the game, like a window. They have buttons, text, pictures, lists and tabs. Players move the mouse to point and click to press. You build them in the panel with the menu builder, or ask your AI to build them for you (Building menus with your AI).
Every Pane can also be shown as a chest menu: the classic menu made of items in a chest. Players who cannot see Panes get the chest menu instead, made from the same page. You do not have to build anything twice. See Chest menus.

We test each game version before Panes switch on for it. If your server runs a version we have not tested yet, everyone gets chest menus until we have.
Shader packs. Some shader packs hide Panes. When that happens, the player sees a short message: "Shaders hide this menu. Press Shift twice to use chest menus." Pressing Shift twice switches that player to chest menus.
Players can choose. Any player can type /pane menus chest to always get chest menus,
/pane menus panes to always try Panes, or /pane menus auto to go back to the normal choice. The
choice is kept on your server only.
How players see menus on your server
In the panel, open Menus for your server. Pick one:
- Panes, with chest menus as backup. Recommended. Players who cannot see Panes get a chest menu made from the same page.
- Panes, with my own chest design as backup. The same, but pages where you designed your own chest menu use your design.
- Panes only. Players who cannot see Panes get no menu.
- Chest menus only. Everyone gets chest menus. Works on every version.
- Off. No menus. The menu plugin does nothing on your server.
You can also pick a main menu: the page that /pane opens, and the one the menu item opens.
The "Powered by" line
On free servers, menus show a small "Powered by" line at the bottom. On a paid plan you can turn it off under Menus, with Show "Powered by" on menus. See Credits and plans.
Commands players can use

/menu works the same as /pane.

Menus you publish reach your server within about 5 minutes by themselves, and sooner when a player
joins. /pane reload fetches them at once.
